About
Helping dogs and handlers build real-world skills through ethical, choice-based training.
Hi, I’m Alex, owner and head trainer at Choice Dog Training LLC. I’m a professional dog trainer, behavior specialist, and service dog consultant working with puppies, pet dogs, owner-trained service dog teams, and dogs presenting with complex behavior concerns. I specialize in behavior modification for anxiety, reactivity, and bite risk, with an emphasis on safety, clarity, and evidence-based practice.
My approach is rooted in modern, evidence-based training methods that prioritize clear communication, humane handling, and long-term success. I focus on building reliable behavior through positive reinforcement, structured training plans, and realistic expectations—because training should improve life for both the dog and the human.
Experience That Matters
I am an AKC Certified Evaluator and AKC ATT Temperament Test Evaluator, with experience administering and evaluating CGC, CGCU, CGCA, S.T.A.R. Puppy, Trick Dog, and temperament assessments.
My training background includes college-level study in animal behavior, mentorship and education alongside professional K9 handlers and experienced service dog handlers, and the ongoing application of modern learning theory and behavioral science in real-world settings.
In addition to professional training work, I am also a service dog handler, which directly informs my approach to owner education, public access foundations, and functional, ethical training practices. I understand the practical challenges, access concerns, and emotional weight that come with training a dog to support a handler’s independence. This lived experience allows me to provide realistic guidance and solutions that extend beyond structured training sessions.
